Our Safety Patrol program is back! Our fifth graders are assisting with safety in our hallways at arrival/dismissal time, as well as learning about proper flag handling. We are proud of the 14 students that were selected to lead our team.

TWOSDAY 2/22/22 was a blast in kindergarten!

TWOSDAY (2/22/22) was filled with tutus, ties and tube socks in second grade! 💜

We dressed for success this week at South Jefferson!

Thank you to the Andrew family, for sharing two-week-old lambs, Elsa, Anna and Olaf, with us, along with a sweet baby calf. Our kindergarten students have been studying farm animals so this was an amazing way to bring the real world to them. What fun!

In honor of World Kindness Day, our South Jefferson community raised $850 for Jefferson County’s Relay for Life! Wow!! Thank you to the awesome SJES family! 💜 Ms. Mahoney

Our second grade students had a blast in our STEAM lab today with a “SpheroBot Battle”. The students made a plan, designed their robots, experimented with the sphero balls, and made adjustments if they needed. It was really cool! They had to maneuver their robots to try and pop each others balloons that were hooked to the other robots. What a fun way to learn about the engineering process! Special thanks to Mrs. Johnson, our WV Extension Agent (and SJES parent!) who helped lead the lesson today!

Attention all fifth grade students and families:
Charles Town Middle School will be holding a scheduling informational night at CTMS on March 9th, from 6:00 - 6:45 pm. More details to come!

This week (February 7-11) has been National School Counseling Week, a time to recognize and honor the crucial work performed by school guidance counselors. Shoutout to all JCS counselors for offering our students unconditional guidance, support, and stability all day, every day. We appreciate you!

Congratulations to JCS students Jonathan Gutzman and Amelia Mabry of Wright Denny Intermediate and Daniel Healy of C.W. Shipley Elementary, individual winners of the 4th grade Math Field Day competition! Wright Denny Intermediate, Shepherdstown Elementary, and South Jefferson Elementary earned first, second, and third place wins at the team level.
JCS Math Field Day is an opportunity to promote mathematical reasoning, teamwork, and a balanced mathematics curriculum for students at the upper elementary, middle, and high schools levels. Winners will now compete for a slice of the "pi" at the Regional Math Field Day competition at Potomac State College on March 14, aka "Pi" Day (π = 3.14).

Congratulations to our Fourth Grade Math Field Day Team for representing us at the county level competition! We are super proud of you guys! (Team: Natalie Leach, Maddie Kline, Coach Slagle, Noah Sunday and Tyson Stuntz)
