JCS Micro-Credential Information

THE JCS MICRO-CREDENTIAL PROGRAM HAS COME TO A CLOSE!

For the past two years regular employees took part in a retention and recruitment program that was created to provide a meaningful pathway of learning for all staff members. Employees who successfully completed a micro-credential earned an extra $500 per micro-credential throughout the year.  This was a commitment from Jefferson County Board of Education for our employees who make JCS great as we continue to learn and grow together!

PLEASE CHECK YOUR PAY STUBS!

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT PAYMENT APPEAL IS SEPTEMBER 15TH!

As the program has come to a close, if you successfully completed a micro-credential and did not get paid you will need to submit a JCS Micro-Credential Payment form.  All payment appeals must be received by September 15th to be reviewed and considered for payment.  Any payment appeal forms received after September 15th will not be honored.

Sharing Your Success

If you have successfully completed a micro-credential, you now have the option to display your badge with a micro-credential pin! These enamel pins can be displayed in classrooms, worn on clothing, or put on a lanyard. They show students, families, and colleagues some of the additional skillsets you bring to the school environment. To obtain a pin for successfully completed micro-credentials, simply follow the directions on How To Print Proof of Badge Pin and give it to your building principal or designee. Displaying your micro-credential is voluntary.

Please note: Only the first four micro-credential badges are available! Limited supply is now available.

What is a micro-credential?

A micro-credential is training designed to teach a very specific, practical skill for you to use in your job. To decide which micro-credentials were needed, committees of service and professional personnel provided their input about what they felt was most important for their jobs. We then built the micro-credentials specific to what was asked by the staff.

Each micro-credential will require you to review information, complete an activity to show you understand the material, then turn in proof of completion. The goal is to provide new skills and insights to assist JCS staff in helping our students and community while earning additional pay. Micro-credentials give you control of your professional learning with a ‘learning by doing' approach. Whether a professional or service employee, Jefferson County Schools is excited to offer unique micro-credentials that align with your personal goals, the needs of our students, and school and district-wide priorities.
